Australia’s forgotten child migrants

This picture is only one of many that depicts the situation in which more than 100.000 British children were found in, after being sent overseas in one of the British Colonies. Their lives were everything but glittery and shiny. The exhibition On their own- Britain’s child migrants that was held at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney (2010-11), dealt with this issue.

    Mia nonna mi diceva che negli anni 50/60 il governo italiano dava una casa e degli aiuti finanziari alle famiglie che decidevano di trasferirsi in Australia…
